Persian Restaurant in Köln: Pinnocchio

Before leaving Belgium, I took a final trip to Köln, Germany. It’s about a 2.5-hour train ride from Gent (Belgium), making it perfect for a day trip. My friend and I visited Köln Cathedral and had lunch at a Persian restaurant.

Left: Kashk bademjan (کشک بادمجان)
Kashk Bademjan combines eggplant with kashk, a type of fermented whey. Often served as a dip, it is commonly topped with saffron, sautéed onions, garlic, and walnuts.

Right: Mirza ghasemi (میرزا قاسمی)
Mirza Ghasemi is a classic dish originating from Iran's Gilan province in the north (Caspian region). It can be enjoyed as either a main course or an appetizer and is prepared using smoked grilled eggplant, garlic, tomatoes, oil or butter, salt, pepper, and eggs, which bring all the ingredients together.

Persian eggplant dishes are incredibly diverse, and the use of smoked (grilled) eggplant gives them a wonderfully rich flavor. I absolutely love Iranian-style eggplant dishes!

Kabab Barg (Filet Kabab)

Zereshk Polo ba Morgh
Barberry Rice & Saffron Chicken

Faloodeh is a traditional Iranian dessert. It is made with fine starch-based noodles combined with a semi-frozen syrup flavored with sugar and rose water.
