Neuhaus Chocolates in Ghent
Neuhaus, a Belgian chocolate maker, is known for crafting and selling luxury chocolates, truffles, biscuits, and ice cream. The company was started in 1857 by Jean Neuhaus, a Swiss immigrant, who opened the first Neuhaus store in the Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert in Brussels. His grandson, Jean Neuhaus II, created the chocolate praline in 1912, which is a luxurious chocolate shell filled with a creamy chocolate ganache, marking the invention of the first filled chocolate. Neuhaus has established more than 1,500 sales points in 50 countries around the world. All Neuhaus items are still crafted in Vlezenbeek, close to Brussels, and are exported to countries worldwide. The company was honored with the Royal Warrant of Appointment to the Belgian court in 2000.
